The One that is crafted by nature

Only three ingredients - nothing more, nothing less

The One is from nature. It is made from three natural, inexhaustible raw materials and is therefore a sustainable choice. Clay, chamotte, and water – nothing more, nothing less. No additives are needed. Our pipe comes from nature and returns to nature without any ecological impact.

Vitrified clay pipe: your sustainable choice

Our Steinzeug-Keramo vitrified clay pipe comes from nature and returns to nature without any significant ecological impact. Specifically, this brings three benefits for you:

  1. With our vitrified clay products, you can always be assured that your sewer system will neither pollute nor damage the soil.
  2. Take advantage of the high performance in terms of chemical resistance as well as mechanical and physical properties—resulting in an extremely long lifespan.
  3. Vitrified clay systems have the great advantage of not requiring additives or chemical substances during production. This makes it the only material that does not need secondary production processes, such as the production of catalysts or the refining of intermediates. This makes the production process of vitrified clay pipes more efficient, more sustainable, and with minimal environmental impact. While other materials require additional steps and raw materials—leading to extra waste, energy consumption, and transport—vitrified clay pipes remain pure and simple in their production: without unnecessary steps, with lower emissions and less waste.

Clay

The main ingredient of The One. An abundant and practically inexhaustible natural raw material, formed by sedimentation.

Our clay comes from Western Europe, close to the location of our production sites in Hasselt (Belgium) and Bad Schmiedeberg (Germany). To minimize our ecological footprint on the environment, we are committed to using the form of transport with the lowest possible impact: by ship!

This reduces the environmental impact of our transport by more than 80%. External parties have shown that this has significantly reduced the CO2 emissions of the supply chain, leading to a reduction of 263 tons of CO2 in Bad Schmiedeberg in 2023.

Materials Chamotte

Chamotte

This is the term used to describe the recycled ceramic material. We grind this material to the desired grain size to reuse it.

It is a simple one-step process with minimal environmental impact, as grinding the chamotte is a (very) energy-efficient process. Because ceramic material does not degrade and retains its quality, it has a significant advantage in relation to the circular economy.

All our pipes and fittings contain at least 30% chamotte (recycled material), and this value quickly increases to nearly 50% for larger diameters. Furthermore, these values are externally verified. The vitrified clay pipes have been ICMQ certified since 2019 regarding the content of recycled/recovered/by-product materials according to EN ISO 14021:2016.

Water

Water

Our clay has a natural moisture content, so very little water needs to be added.

Where possible, we use locally sourced water. During the drying and firing of the pipes, the excess water evaporates (without chemical emissions or pollution), enters the atmosphere, and returns to Earth as precipitation to be reused. Since this is a natural process, the water remains pure, without contaminants.
