Manhole rehabilitation in Belgium

In Zwijnaarde, Belgium, sewer operator Farys recently carried out a major sewer renovation in response to a damaged sewer manhole with severe infiltration issues. The project, executed by contractor Renotec, addressed a situation where the damage had caused subsidence in the surrounding roads, posing a direct threat to the infrastructure and the safety of local residents.

Watertightness and Stability

The water company - Farys - had clear requirements: the sewer manhole had to be completely watertight, and the existing dimensions had to be preserved as much as possible. All of this needed to be achieved with minimal disruption to residents and within the shortest possible execution time. Choosing the appropriate renovation technique was crucial to meeting these demands.

Our requirements were to ensure the watertightness of the manhole and to preserve the existing dimensions as much as possible.

DURA.Port: The Ideal Solution

DURA.Port is an innovative solution that perfectly addressed the specific issue of infiltration in the sewer manhole. The system consists of separate panels that are installed inside the existing manhole. The space between the old walls and the new panels is then filled with grout. Thanks to the mechanical strength of the DURA.Port panels, the system undergoes a structural upgrade, making the renovated manhole resistant to both groundwater pressure and traffic loads.

A Watertight Structure

The DURA.Port panels can be easily connected to each other using epoxy. This creates an immediate, watertight, and chemically resistant bond, which is essential for the durability of the structure. The connections of the manhole are also finished with epoxy, resulting in a seamless whole that is perfectly resistant to the harsh conditions in which it operates.

DURA.Port is a very good alternative to the techniques currently available on the market
